One of the oldest constructive solutions of bridges is the arch. Arched bridges from it got their name. Here the arch carries the entire load. Another variety of bridges are console bridges, in which consoles are the supporting elements. They are fixed on one side, and perceive compressive efforts in their lower part, and stretching efforts - in the upper.
